The Summer School on roads and the environment hosted by the University of San Marino receives consensus: "Sharing experiences is fundamental"

Transfer to the Misano World Circuit – Marco Simoncelli for the academics and professionals involved in the International Summer School on roads and the environment organized by the Italian Road Infrastructure Society and hosted by the University of the Republic of San Marino thanks to the commitment of the Engineering degree course Civil. In fact, this morning there was a visit to the track where the thirteenth round of the MotoGP championship was recently held, which was followed by a lesson by professor Ezio Santagata of the Turin Polytechnic, with a focus on situations in which high demands are performance.

Yesterday, however, some subscribers described their experience on Titan during a program edited by Usmaradio, the University's radio station. What was underlined was the importance of the initiative both in terms of contents, mostly aimed at the impact of climate change in the design of road infrastructures, and for the possibilities of exchange and networking. Furthermore, positive effects for the Titano are guaranteed, given the ongoing collaboration between the University and the Autonomous State Authority for Public Works on the front of the use of eco-sustainable techniques in road maintenance. “I usually deal with the quality control of the products that the company I work for makes, mainly asphalt and cement,” explains Michele Garavini, enrolled in the Summer School. “Participating in the insights offered at the University of San Marino has allowed me to get to know people from other countries who are studying the same materials on which I intervene. Sharing experiences is fundamental in our profession”. Nico Scalbi, construction site technical assistant in the Pesaresi Giuseppe Infrastrutture company, the same one in which Garavini works, echoes him: "We have analysed, for example, how in some realities, to intervene on excessive ambient temperatures in inhabited centres, it is more use light colored asphalts and not black, because they store and release less heat, with a benefit for the residents”.

Among the participants in the international Summer School, organized with the support of the University of Parma, also Alex Balzi, who collaborates with private entities such as the SGAI studio and is involved in a research project curated by the University of San Marino: "There are some Polish doctoral students with whom the discussion was undoubtedly constructive, we addressed various research topics of common interest". Erika Garilli, research fellow at the University of Parma, finally underlined the vocation of those who attend initiatives of this kind: "A great curiosity towards the topics on which there are opportunities for further study, to discover new things". The interviews will be broadcast by Usmaradio on Saturday 21 September at 16 pm on the website.
