"Dangerous human relationships" at the center of the new edition of the master's degree in Criminology at the University of San Marino

The new edition of the Master's Degree in Criminology and Forensic Psychiatry of the University of the Republic of San Marino "will be dedicated in particular to the study of the so-called 'dangerous human relationships', i.e. those interpersonal relationships that are dysfunctional, insidious and difficult to recognize socially, in capable of causing serious psychophysical damage to the victims and to the social fabric". Multiple contexts involved, such as domestic violence in the intra-family sphere, bullying at school, mobbing at work, stalking and gender-based violence in relationships, cyberbullying and grooming on the internet.

This is the description with which Elga Marvelli, scientific director of the postgraduate training programme, presents the next edition of the study program organized by the University of San Marino in collaboration with the University of Urbino. "It is a course aimed at providing a solid criminological and psychiatric-forensic preparation to those who work, or intend to work, in the field of safety, prevention, contrast and treatment of deviant phenomena, in a key to rehabilitating perpetrators and victims of crime”, explains the academic. The master's degree is therefore aimed at figures such as "psychologists, psychiatrists, coroners, social workers, educators, prison operators, members of the police force, lawyers, magistrates" and more.

"Clinical criminology, criminal sociology, forensic psychology and psychiatry are multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary sciences that integrate, in a synthetic vision, data, knowledge, approaches and methodologies from different fields of human knowledge", Marvelli points out. “These are disciplines that have as their object the study of the human person, when he implements behaviors envisaged by law as crimes. It is therefore a question of knowing the biological, sociological, psychological and psychiatric causes of why a person performs an act contrary to the law, of the various dynamics underlying each single criminal act and of the diagnostic, therapeutic and treatment measures of the various protagonists of a deviant act or criminal. In particular, the close link between aggressors and victims is being studied. It is a bond that implies knowledge of the complex discipline of victimology in its bio, socio-psychological and psychiatric aspects".

Registrations are open until February 4th. More information on the site www.unirsm.sm, on the page dedicated to the master which can be accessed from the 'training offer' area.
