An academic analysis shows, among other things, that health disparities in the Marche region exist based on income and education: those with a higher level of education, for example, live longer and experience fewer physical problems. This was illustrated by the University of the Republic of San Marino on September 13 in Pescara at the conference "Risk Assessment, Control, and Scenarios: The Role of Statistics," organized by the G. D'Annunzio University and the Association for Applied Statistics. The study was presented by San Marino professor Pietro Renzi, author of the analysis along with colleagues Alberto Franci and Alberto Dormio, director of the Management Engineering degree program at the University of San Marino.
At the heart of the Pescara initiative, of national importance, were new statistical techniques and models for risk analysis in the food, health and social care, economic, and environmental sectors. Among the topics explored, in addition to those related to the health and social care sectors, were the quality assessment of food and beverages, the counterfeiting of branded food and wine products, security risks, and crime and terrorism forecasting.
