The University of the Republic of San Marino is participating in UKYA City Takeover 2019, a contemporary art event taking place in Nottingham, England, from February 7 to 13. The event is organized in collaboration with the international association BJCEM. 250 young artists from 25 countries and three continents will participate.
On Thursday, February 7, University of San Marino student Thomas Franzoni presented his work Mickey Glass in the Surface Gallery. The work was created in the Product Design laboratory coordinated by professor Massimo Barbierato, together with Matteo Aprili and Andrea Castellucci.
The work will be on display until February 14th.
Mickey Glass, made of Murano glass, is the result of research aimed at innovating the traditional molds used in historic Venetian furnaces. The work, with a shape reminiscent of the famous comic book character, promotes the values of trust, connection, and sharing. The transparency of the glass welcomes and reflects those who approach without fear.
