The University of San Marino at the meeting of the Network of Universities of Small States and Territories: workshops and supervision of PhD students among the topics discussed

On June 4th a meeting between the heads of the academic institutions involved, in the wake of a multidisciplinary conference

The University of the Republic of San Marino has curated three in-depth studies as part of a multidisciplinary conference on the role and impact of the activities of researchers, professors and others in the contexts in which the universities included in the Network of Universities of Small States and Territories (NUSCT) operate. In addition to San Marino, it includes organizations from countries such as Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Montenegro.
During the initiative, held in the Faroe Islands, professor Marco Greggi offered an in-depth analysis of fiscal policies, while Karen Venturini and Maria Elena d'Amelio addressed gender policies. Roberto Paci Dalò and Alessandro Renzi, director and station manager of the Usmaradio broadcaster, also illustrated the potential of a network between different universities for cultural exchange and scientific dissemination, collecting material for the production of a report involving the main personalities of the local artistic and cultural scene. Among them Gunn Hernes, director of the Nordic House, an institution inaugurated in 1983: it organizes about 400 initiatives every year including music, literature, theater, cinema and more.

In the wake of the conference, organized precisely at the instigation of the Rector of the University of San Marino, Corrado Petrocelli, the seventh annual meeting of the heads of the academic institutions participating in the network took place on June 4. Representing the University of San Marino was the director of the Research Center for International Relations, Michele Chiaruzzi: "The initiatives, held in the city of Torshavn, confirmed the centrality of our reality for this international institution, of which we are among the most active founders", underlines the academic.

During the meeting, which discussed joint activities including workshops and collaborations in the supervision of PhD students, a draft document on the importance of data protection, academic integrity and staff support in the adoption of technologies related to generative artificial intelligence was approved, among other things.

On the sidelines of the works, Paci Dalò finally performed in a concert together with the Faroese artist Heðin Ziska Davidsen.

The next annual meeting will take place in Montenegro in May 2026.
