The University of San Marino dedicates an event to Corrado Vivanti, academic and editor of the Einaudi History series

The Reformation, the Counter-Reformation, the Renaissance, Humanism, Niccolò Machiavelli, French political thought of the 500th century and Marxist thought. These are the main 'stages' of the path that characterized the study of the historian Corrado Vivanti, to whom the University of the Republic of San Marino will dedicate an event scheduled for 16 pm on Thursday 5 October in the former church of the Antico Monastero of Santa Chiara, in the historic center of Titano, in the Omerelli district 20.

Born in 1928 and died in 2012, member of the scientific council of the School of Historical Studies of the University of San Marino since its foundation in 1988, the academic collaborated with the Einaudi publishing house as main editor of series such as 'Storia d'Italia ( 1972-76)'. His research has focused, among other things, on figures such as Paolo Sarpi and Alexis de Tocqueville, as well as on the history of Italian Jews. As a teacher, between 1968 and 2000, he taught at the universities of Turin, Perugia and Rome 'La Sapienza'. In 2002 the Accademia dei Lincei awarded him the President of the Republic's Prize for History.

«A rigorous and erudite scholar, Vivanti personally supervised the selection of the first substantial nucleus of texts that gave birth to our library and which today is enriched by its large collection of books, donated to the University by family members», explains Gabriella Lorenzi, director of the structure . «Moreover, we owe the launch of the first editorial series promoted by our School of Historical Studies to his relationship with Giulio Einaudi's publishing house».

The appointment is part of the current cycle of lessons of the research doctorate in Historical Sciences. In addition to Vivanti's family, the Rector Corrado Petrocelli, the director of the School of Historical Studies Luciano Canfora and the academics Gabriele Pedullà of the University of Rome 'Tor Vergata', Walter Barberis of the University of Turin and Luigi Alberto Sanchi of the University of Paris 'Panthéon-Assas'.
