The University of San Marino will inaugurate the new academic year with a lecture by Ferruccio de Bortoli.

Ferruccio de Bortoli, former editor of the newspapers Il Corriere della Sera and Il Sole 24 Ore, and currently president of the publishing house Longanesi, will deliver the Lectio Magistralis scheduled for Tuesday, November 12th at the Kursaal Congress Centre during the inauguration ceremony of the 2019–20 Academic Year of the University of the Republic of San Marino.

The journalist, president of the voluntary association for socio-medical assistance to the terminally ill, Vidas, will deliver a presentation entitled "Quality of Citizenship, Quality of Democracy."

Before him, the Rector of the University of San Marino, Corrado Petrocelli, the Secretary of State for Education and Culture, Marco Podeschi, and the Regional Councillor of Emilia-Romagna for European Development Policies, Schools and Vocational Training, Patrizio Bianchi, will speak.

Kicking off at 3:00 PM, the event represents an opportunity for the University of San Marino to share the achievements of recent years and outline future prospects, in light of a growth that last academic year saw, among other things, the launch of two new degree programs: the master's degree in Management Engineering and the bachelor's degree in Communication and Digital Media, which in its second year saw a surge in enrollment, selling out within 40 days of the deadline. These programs are complemented by the well-established programs in Design and Civil Engineering, along with master's and advanced training courses aimed at high school and college graduates, professionals, public sector workers, law enforcement, and others. Admission is free.
