The University of San Marino will present design and craft projects involving glass, wood, and more during the Milan Furniture Fair.

The University of the Republic of San Marino will exhibit the results of two workshops conducted as part of its Design degree program, coinciding with the Salone del Mobile, taking place in Milan in early June. It will also curate a series of initiatives hosted by several venues in the Via Eustachi neighborhood, in the Porta Venezia area, a hub of historic and traditional businesses such as wineries, art galleries, shops, and artisan workshops.

"Under the title 'Rionale,' we decided to set up an exhibition space at Via Antonio Stoppani 17 as if it were an indoor market, dedicated to design concepts, craftsmanship, and all things physically made by hand," explains instructor Massimo Barbierato. "As part of the so-called 'Fuori Salone,' we chose to physically distance ourselves from the traditional routines of the event, immersing ourselves instead in the context of a neighborhood that lends itself well to our desire to work with local communities. We will do this by meeting, among other things, with associations and schools."

A series of exhibitions and events are planned at the Via Stoppani space, including blown glass works created using new techniques in collaboration with the Nasonmoretti glassworks in Murano, and wooden products crafted by students from the University of San Marino.

Presenting works that balance tradition and experimental practices, the space will also feature a series of performances by university faculty: in addition to a glassblowing workshop with Barbierato and Stefano Parise, there will also be meetings with architect and music composer Lorenzo Palmeri, industrial design historian and critic Elena Brigi, and the Milan-based graphic design studios FM and Tomo Tomo. "We will work with the neighborhood, communicate with the neighborhood, and listen to the neighborhood's sounds."

Activities will also take place outside the exhibition space, with the presentation, in five locations within the area, of five products created by students of the University of San Marino in the field of food design.

The exhibition will be open from June 7th to 10th from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm and is organized in collaboration with Anam Communication, an agency involved in fields such as design, art, culture, and food and wine.
