The University of San Marino is doubling its enrollment.

With an increase of 128 students between 2014 and 2016, the University of the Republic of San Marino nearly doubled its enrollment in degree programs. Compared to the 144 students who chose to enroll in the programs offered at the University of San Marino two years ago, 272 chose the San Marino university for the 2016/2017 academic year. Of these, over a tenth—33 to be precise—are San Marino citizens.

The most popular program is the three-year undergraduate program in Design, which has 116 new students. The most significant jump comes from Management Engineering, which has seen a jump in enrollment from 19 to 51 in the three-year program in two years. A separate issue concerns the newly established three-year undergraduate program in Construction and Land Management, aimed specifically at surveyors. The application deadline for this program has not yet closed, and the current 77 enrollments are expected to increase.

The University of San Marino offers a total of six degree programs: the Bachelor's and Master's in Design, the Bachelor's and Master's in Civil Engineering, the Bachelor's in Management Engineering, and the Bachelor's in Construction and Land Management. The total enrollment is 600.

"The numbers demonstrate the results of the intense work and commitment we have put in during these first two years of my term, during which, in addition to revitalizing and strengthening existing courses, we have introduced the program for surveyors," explains Rector Corrado Petrocelli. "Contributing factors," he analyzes, "have been the improvements in career guidance and the strengthening of our presence abroad, thanks to agreements with many foreign universities, both in Italy and beyond. Also positive are the creation of new student services, the opportunities offered to talented young San Marino residents abroad, and the renewed relationship with the San Marino community, the professions, and entrepreneurship."

"Our University," stated Giuseppe Morganti, Secretary of State for Education, in light of the data, "is a precious jewel we have inherited from the past and we are returning to the future strengthened in terms of content, professionalism, research, and relationships with the local community, businesses, and institutions. These objectives were achieved thanks to the reform that has made our University comparable to those in Europe, as well as a governance structure capable of managing the institution with full autonomy. Furthermore, constant engagement with local businesses and public administration departments is providing quality services, so much so that even foreign companies are requesting collaboration with the University. The number of San Marino residents participating in teaching and managing strategic sectors is increasing, as is the number of students coming from our region. The doubling of enrollment not only demonstrates the prestige achieved, but also allows the University to grow further."
