Confirmations and implementations mark a new chapter in the partnership between the Autonomous State Company for Public Works (AASLP) and the University of the Republic of San Marino in road maintenance, employing eco-sustainable intervention techniques. On April 18, the third memorandum of understanding on the topic was signed, expressing "mutual satisfaction with the results achieved" thanks to a collaboration "that has enabled the AASLP to structure the process of streamlining technical and economic decision-making regarding intervention priorities and methodologies, significantly raising its knowledge and technical standards in the construction and maintenance of road surfaces." At the same time, the document further states, the University of San Marino has been able to "immediately implement its research lines of research and achieve further significant benefits for the San Marino region."
The new protocol, which specifically involves the Civil Engineering degree program, includes a series of activities that, in 2019, include, among other things, "the organization, in collaboration with the Italian Road Infrastructure Society, of the seventeenth International SIIV Summer School. The speakers will include internationally renowned figures in the road sector, and the participants will include young researchers and doctoral students selected from both national and international levels." Particular attention will also be paid to completing the "survey of the condition of the road pavements of the Republic of San Marino, according to the assessment methods introduced in the more general system for managing and scheduling maintenance interventions on the road network of San Marino."
