The University of San Marino's Notte Bianca (White Night): A marathon of women-focused events on June 9th.

The University of the Republic of San Marino's Notte Bianca, scheduled for Friday, June 9, is titled "Mending the World" to represent the 2017 edition's focus on female roles and sensibilities in fields such as science, the arts, and society.

The program, scheduled from 15:30 PM until late in the historic center of San Marino, features events related to this theme at various levels, such as the "lectio magistralis" by the University Rector, Corrado Petrocelli, who will open the day in the Aula Magna of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, at Contrada Omerelli 20, with a talk on "Women and Medicine in History." Following his lecture, starting at 16 PM, there will be a series of short seminars, called "lectio brevis," which will explore stories related to women's contributions in fields ranging from design to mathematics, as well as their role in works such as the Odyssey.

At 17:30 p.m., a roundtable discussion will focus on the role of women in contemporary Italy. Giovanna Cosenza, professor in the Department of Philosophy and Communication at the University of Bologna and director of the Master's in Communication and New Media at the University of Bologna, will discuss the role of women in contemporary Italy. She will also include journalist Federico Taddia, author of the book "Il maschio è inutile" (The Male is Useless), and artist Chiara Rapaccini, a contributor to newspapers such as Il Corriere della Sera and La Repubblica, and winner of the 2016 Andrea Pazienza Award for best web author.

In addition to seminars and debates, the University of San Marino's Notte Bianca also features music, theater, dance, and more. At 7:00 pm, the Giostremia ensemble will take the stage at the Cantone del Macello with a repertoire of traditional European and South American music, while at 9:00 pm, the Teatro Titano will host the performance "Il Mio Eroe" by Giuliana Musso. The performance will return to the Aula Magna of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara at 11:15 pm for the voice and movement performance "Prove di abbandono" with Paola Bianchi and Ivan Fantini. 30 seats can be reserved by emailing dsu@unirsm.sm.

At the same time, a music marathon will begin at 22 pm in the University gardens, kicking off at midnight with teachers and students taking turns at the console.

The initiative is sponsored by the Ministries of Education and Culture, Foreign Affairs, Finance and Budget, Industry, Health, Territory, and Tourism.
