Paolo Pascucci appointed Rector of the University of San Marino for the 2026–2029 term.

The Academic Senate expressed its opinion today: this is how the successor to Corrado Petrocelli, who has been at the helm since 2014, was defined.

The Academic Senate of the University of the Republic of San Marino, the highest scientific and educational governing body of the University of San Marino, today appointed Paolo Pascucci as Rector for the three-year term 2026-2029.

The meeting, chaired by Luciano Canfora and held in person at the university headquarters in the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, involved the University's leading figures, who unanimously and openly nominated by acclamation the academic who, at the end of September, will replace Corrado Petrocelli, who has been at the helm of the University of San Marino since 2014.

Pascucci, 71, was a university researcher, associate professor, and full professor in the Department of Law at the University of Urbino, where he was director from 2012 to 2018. At the University of the Marche region, he also served on bodies such as the Academic Senate, the Evaluation Committee, and the Commission for the European Charter for Researchers.

Director of the Law Institute of the University of San Marino since 2018, he has held senior positions within the Historical and Legal Department, as well as master's degrees, conferences, seminars, and specialized and advanced training courses organized by La Repubblica.

As an author, he has authored monographs and manuals on topics primarily related to workplace safety and protection. He has collaborated with organizations such as the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Labor. Since last January, he has been Deputy Pro-Rector of the University of San Marino.

Pascucci's appointment, as required by law, will be submitted to the San Marino parliament, the Great and General Council, which is called upon to express its approval of the sixth Rector of the University after Renato Zangheri, Attilio Alto, Ippolito Donini, Giorgio Petroni, and Corrado Petrocelli.
