The latest research on health inequalities carried out by the University of San Marino was presented in Brescia

The most recent results achieved in the research activities of the Management Engineering degree course of the University of the Republic of San Marino were illustrated on 27 September during the scientific conference "Statistics for health and well-being" organized by the Association for Applied Statistics and hosted by the University of Brescia. Specifically, the professors Alberto Franci and Pietro Renzi presented an analysis of the performance in social-health services and the health inequalities related to socio-economic status.

“The main objectives of our research, which has recently explored the measures and indices for the evaluation of health inequalities, concern the application of what has been analyzed in the context of small European states”, explains Renzi. “With our study we have presented the main models that broadly describe the social determinants of health, also proposing suitable measurement methods in the form of indicators capable of estimating and detecting the level of inequality in a population. Finally, we presented some important results related to the proposed measures to evaluate health inequalities in the Marche region and in other contexts, using existing and available data”.

On the same theme, in 2018 Franci and Renzi published the volume "Performance in health systems and unequal health" for Maggioli Editore, described as an analysis capable of "evaluating the impact of programs on health equity" and envisage "increasingly effective policies in order to reduce the disparities found in this sector".
