The author, Giovanni Boccia Artieri, guest of the Design degree courses for a dialogue with Professor Luca Gorgolini
Giovanni Boccia Artieri, sociologist and essayist, professor at the University of Urbino and member of the Committee on Artificial Intelligence of the Communications Regulatory Authority (AgCom), yesterday presented his book "Sfiduciati – democrazia e disordine comunicativo nella società opportuno," published by Feltrinelli, to students of the Design degree programs at the University of the Republic of San Marino.
In a meeting held at the university's Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, in the historic center of Mount Titano, the author offered a series of reflections and perspectives, starting with a book in which he analyzed a society exposed to "an environment in which communication and the public sphere have become vulnerable, riddled with mistrust, information overload, and toxic conflicts," according to the official synopsis. In a context in which "democracy is threatened not only by illiberal forces, but by an ecosystem in which words and bonds are fraying and dissent is losing recognition," the academic proposes "practices for curating public discourse" and "forms of critical citizenship capable of regenerating the connection between speech and public space," achievable through time, "listening, mediation, and argumentation."
Boccia Artieri is a professor of Sociology of Cultural and Communication Processes. From 2017 to 2024, he directed the Department of Communication Sciences, Humanities, and International Studies at the University of Urbino. During the April 8 event, he spoke with Luca Gorgolini, professor of Contemporary History at the University of San Marino.
