The Research Centre for International Relations of the University of San Marino has published the first 'CRRI Notebook' entitled Gibraltar and the European Union: Brexit or not? The author is Jorri Duursma, a Dutch scholar known especially for her seminal work Fragmentation and the International Relations of Micro-States (Cambridge University Press, 1996). That celebrated primary-source volume studied the international position of five small European states, including San Marino. The CRRI Notebook, on the other hand, analyzes the case of Gibraltar in the context of the European integration process following the United Kingdom's exit from the EU: Brexit. In the preface, Michele Chiaruzzi explains that one of the CRRI's aims is "to study international affairs and make the results available to the public. As a San Marino-based center, we wish to draw attention to the importance of diversity in international relations. In particular, we wish to emphasize the value of studying small states and issues of particular interest to their international relations. The topic of Gibraltar's role in European integration has been noteworthy since the Treaty of Utrecht." The CRRI Notebook is a digital publication in English, available free online, thus offering the widest possible access.
