Romano Prodi, economist and former president of the Italian Council of Ministers, will open the next cycle of lessons of the research doctorate in Historical Sciences of the University of the Republic of San Marino. His speech, entitled "Politics and the economy", will in fact inaugurate a series of insights on the afternoon of Wednesday 22 September which will see historians and experts from academic institutions such as the Queen Mary University of London, the School of Higher Studies in Sociali in Paris and the Jacques Maritain Institute in Rome.
Distributed over more than 30 days of activities, scheduled until 30 October, the lessons will engage teachers and students for about 80 hours and will fall within the framework of two themes: "the archives of the twentieth century" on the one hand, "politics and economics" on the other.
Prodi, twice head of government in Italy, was president of the European Commission. Former president of the Il Mulino publishing company, he has combined his political activity with an academic path that has seen him involved in realities such as the American Brown University and the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai. He is an honorary fellow of the London School of Economics and Political Science and was awarded the Schumpeter Prize for Economics in 1999.
The research doctorate in Historical Sciences of the University of San Marino is currently in its fifteenth cycle and is managed by the Department of Historical Studies directed by Luciano Canfora.
