More than 30 projects will be showcased on Saturday, July 13, during the exhibition presenting the final works of the 2019 edition of the 'San Marino Design Workshop', an initiative of the University of the Republic of San Marino. Since last Monday, the workshop has brought together approximately 200 students, faculty, designers, and professionals in the city's historic center. The workshops will involve eight workshops on sustainability, including two full-immersion workshops dedicated to San Marino, with new ideas for the future of the city's public transport system and waste sorting.
Starting at 10:30 a.m., visitors will be taken on a mini-tour during which teachers and students will illustrate the projects in the specially set-up classrooms. The focus will be on topics such as waste sorting and sustainable mobility, as well as community design, migrant rescue at sea, the "rebirth" of the San Leo bakery, and light sources in domestic environments.
Inaugurated in 2006, the summer workshops are organized by the University of San Marino's Design degree program and each year explore research topics and projects of interest to universities, companies, and institutions. This year's initiative focuses on the 17 sustainable development goals contained in the 2030 Agenda, the action plan for people, the planet, and prosperity endorsed in September 2015 by 193 UN countries.
'San Marino Design Workshop 2019' is held in collaboration with the Autonomous State Company for Public Services, the Secretariat of State for Education and Culture, the University of Bologna, the San Marino National Commission for UNESCO, the Italian Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, AssoBDM, and Vivida International.
Admission is free.
