Focus on video, digital marketing and social: among the objectives, attracting new visitors to the Titan
Three short films and as many strategies, developed on the digital and social marketing front, to enhance and expand the image of the Titan on the tourism front by attracting people from new territories and beyond. These are the projects awarded yesterday, Wednesday 16 October, as part of an initiative developed through the collaboration of three entities representing the world of education and research, business and institutions: the University of the Republic of San Marino, the multinational electronics and digital industry Samsung and the Secretariat of State for Tourism.
Created by students of the degree courses in Design and Communication and Digital Media of the University of San Marino, divided into groups, the audiovisuals and marketing strategies were illustrated during a ceremony held in the university headquarters of the Ancient Monastery of Santa Chiara, in the historic center, together with representatives of all the entities involved.
The authors of the six projects, selected from a wider offer, will receive cash prizes totaling 12.000 Euros, provided by the Samsung Innovation Campus, a training initiative dedicated to young people destined to become protagonists in the digital transformation currently underway by deepening their knowledge of technologies and skills.
During the process that led to the development of the projects, the over 80 participants attended a series of lessons curated by a series of Samsung experts on marketing, press office, storytelling, generative artificial intelligence and other topics. Meetings were also held with the Secretariat of State and the Tourism Office, who shared the horizons, objectives and needs to be met. The selected results will form the basis for further developments destined to materialize in the videos shown on the three giant screens and the two totems currently present in the historic center of the Titano, as well as on the Visitsanmarino platform, including the social pages.
“The students were asked to create an audiovisual investigation of the territory starting from their own experiences and in a sort of authorial transcription on the general theme of tourism, so nothing that can be traced back to a commercial”, explains Pietro De Tilla, professor of the degree course in Design. “From this initiative nine short films were born that have a maximum duration of 10 minutes each, from which we selected the best three. In one project we find a stonemason who offers an interesting connection with the image of Saint Marino and therefore with the founding figure of the republic. In another, four uniforms lead to the discovery of as many existences in the faces and gestures of a university professor, a hotel doorman, a Civil Police officer and a member of the Guardia di Rocca. The third short film is dedicated to the walkways of the historic center, often appreciated by visitors who walk along the battlements of the walls, and leads the viewer into the heart of the night”.
As for Communication and Digital Media, the activities were carried out under the coordination of the director of the degree course, Giovanna Cosenza: "It was not a simulation, but a real project created with professional criteria and phases, starting from the meetings with Samsung managers and institutional representatives. The students carried out analyses and research from which they understood, among other things, what other international realities comparable to the Titan in size and characteristics, as well as close in territory in terms of culture and nature, do. From here a series of papers from which the bases for a targeted strategy on the digital marketing and social front emerge".
“The partnership with Samsung represents a strategic opportunity for San Marino, because it allows us to highlight the talent of our University’s young students,” explains Filippo Francini, director of the Department of Tourism and Culture. “Supporting projects that arise in a young and innovative academic reality like ours is essential to build a vision of the future capable of combining technology, creativity and tradition. Together with Samsung, we can accompany students in the development of key skills, promoting initiatives that enhance our cultural heritage and our identity, making San Marino an increasingly attractive and dynamic destination.”
