School and specific learning disabilities at the next international conference organized by the University of San Marino

An international conference will bring together academics, professionals, writers, and representatives from the world of education to discuss specific learning disabilities in San Marino. This will take place through a series of seminars and workshops featuring speakers from Italy, Israel, and the United Kingdom. This initiative, "Nessuno è somaro – una scuola che promozione," is organized by the University of the Republic of San Marino together with SOS Dislessia, a service company that promotes, among other things, rehabilitation and education for children with developmental dyslexia, and the Italian Dyslexia Association.

Scheduled for April 5 and 6 at the Kursaal Congress Center on Mount Titano, the event is coordinated by a scientific committee composed of Laura Gobbi, director of the Department of Human Sciences at the University of San Marino, and Giacomo Stella, one of the most esteemed academics in the field and director of the Master's programs on the topic organized on Mount Titano, as well as founder and director of the Center for the Study and Applied Research on Dyslexia at the University of San Marino, which has organized Master's programs, advanced training courses, campuses, and conferences since the 90s.

"This is the first opportunity for a high-level in-depth study, also aimed at teachers and staff of San Marino schools, from preschool to high school, since the approval of the 2014 legislation on specific learning needs, with the goal of full inclusion and the right to educational success for every student," explains Gobbi.

Stella instead offers a preview of the conference's content: "We'll discuss how brain connections transform into representations, why in some cases our brain 'refuses' to learn, and how to work with a distracted class. We'll also discuss why the problem in schools is expanding and no longer just affects students with specific learning disabilities. Are we all becoming students with special educational needs, or should schools stop being judgmental and find a way to become an educating community?"

For further information on the programme and registration, for which a discounted rate is available for those who decide to participate by March 5th, as well as for school teachers, please visit the website convegnodislessia.unirsm.sm

The event will take place under the high patronage of Their Excellencies the Captains Regent and with the patronage of the Ministries of Education and Culture, Health and Social Security, Territory, Environment and Tourism, and the Sammarinese National Commission for UNESCO.
