The 17 sustainable development goals contained in the 2030 Agenda, the action plan for people, the planet, and prosperity signed in September 2015 by 193 UN countries, inspire the eight workshops scheduled for Monday, July 8th, to Saturday, July 13th, organized by the University of the Republic of San Marino. Approximately 200 people, including students, faculty, professionals, and designers, will participate.
The initiative, which welcomes both students enrolled in the Design degree program at the University of San Marino and students from other universities, includes two workshops dedicated to San Marino. The first focuses on sustainable mobility and integrated public transport services, with the aim of developing a true internal transport ecosystem by rethinking services and infrastructure, including electric and shared mobility. The second workshop focuses on the public waste sorting service, designing an integrated system of equipment and systems to mitigate environmental impact, as well as recycling centers that can be optimally integrated into the various locations and contexts. This will take into account a proper understanding of the service and appropriate user behavior, to facilitate the collection of waste by workers and the vehicles involved.
Other workshop topics included community design, teamwork, rescue operations and lifeboats, the rebirth of the San Leo bakery, service design, and lighting in domestic environments.
The full-immersion workshop, titled “San Marino Design Workshop 2019,” is being held in collaboration with the University of Bologna, the Secretariat of State for Education and Culture, the Autonomous State Company for Public Services, the San Marino National Commission for UNESCO, the Italian Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, AssoBDM, and Vivida International.
Inaugurated in 2006, the summer workshops organized by the University of San Marino each year explore research topics and projects of interest to universities, companies, and institutions.
The inauguration ceremony of the course, scheduled for 10 am on Monday, will be broadcast live by Usmaradio, the University's radio station, at www.usmaradio.orgSaturday, July 13, starting at 10:30 a.m., the exhibition featuring the final works.
