Suicide and violence: a conference on the topic at the University of San Marino, also discussing the critical issues between the Titan and Rimini

On April 4th an event with figures from the State Police, the Court of the capital of Romagna and more

What are the main critical issues faced by law enforcement when cases of violence between two ex-partners emerge, one of whom lives on San Marino and the other in Italy? The question will be addressed during the conference “Suicide and violence – clinical, criminological and legal intersections”, organized by the University of the Republic of San Marino in collaboration with the Violence and Suicide Observatory, scheduled for Friday, April 4 at the university headquarters in via Salita alla Rocca 44, in the historic center.

Organized as part of the Master in Criminology and Forensic Psychiatry at the University of San Marino, coordinated by the scientific director Cristiano Depalmas, the initiative will see the participation of figures such as the Mayor of Rimini, Jamil Sadegholvaad, the deputy prosecutor of the Court of the capital of Romagna, Luca Stefano, the president of the Violence and Suicide Observatory and its director for Emilia – Romagna, Stefano Callipo and Chiara Baiocchi.

"We will address a part dedicated to the clinical aspects of the suicidal mind and the methods of intervention - explains Arianna Piermarini, who participates in the scientific organization of the conference - then limiting the topic to episodes of gender violence. In this sense - specifies the professor of the Master in Criminology - we will focus in particular on the territory thanks to the presence of those who deal with investigations and interventions, to return a specific image of the current situation from an applicative and practical point of view. To achieve this goal we will also involve professionals and operators active in fields such as psychology, psychiatry and justice".

The conference will feature contributions from lawyers and police commissioners, with further insights from the head of the Social Service for Adults Serving Prison (SSAEP) in San Marino, Francesca Civerchia, dedicated to the phenomenon of violence on the Titan. The contributions will also pay particular attention to adolescents, couples, suicide in prison, cases in which the victim is blamed, and their legal protection. Speakers will also include Luca Cimino, director of the advanced training course in Clinical and Forensic Victimology at the University of San Marino.

The initiative will be held under the patronage of the Italian Society of Victimology, the Rimini Forensic Foundation “Michele Ugolini”, and the Genoese Cremation Society – Third Sector Organization.
