Graduations 'in person' are back at the University of San Marino: yesterday six theses were discussed in Civil Engineering and Construction and Territorial Management

Energy analyzes of buildings and sustainable technologies were at the center of the graduation session which yesterday, Monday 20 July, involved six students from the University of the Republic of San Marino in what represents a further step in the progressive return to presence of the University, with the discussion of the main analyzes in the university headquarters of the World Trade Center in Dogana.

Three enrolled have completed the three-year course in Civil Engineering, as many that in Construction and Land Management, dedicated to surveyors. "It seemed appropriate to resume face-to-face activities with graduations given the importance they have in the careers of students: it is an important appointment at the end of a demanding and engaging journey", explains the director of the courses concerned, Angelo Marcello Tarantino. “During the lockdown - he continues - we provided all the educational activities provided remotely: lessons, exams and graduations. Not creating confusion and delays in student training was our priority. Furthermore, to keep alive the sense of the university community among the students, we have organized meetings and seminars on thematic subjects of Civil Engineering on the web”.

Tarantino also recalls the impact that degree theses often have on the territory of San Marino, thanks to a wide network of relationships involving bodies, institutions and private entities. “I am thinking of the geomorphological study of the gullies of San Marino carried out by Aldo Guiducci in collaboration with the Autonomous State Authority for Public Works and discussed in March. In that case, an analysis was conducted which made it possible to carry out, among other things, assessments of the impact that the reclamation activities have had over time. I also recall Alessandro Paglierani's thesis on the survey of road surface irregularities: thanks to a specific application for smartphones, about 220 km of roads in the San Marino road network were examined, with objectives such as identifying a scale of priorities for Extraordinary maintenance. The surveys have been integrated on a georeferenced map and are now available for consultation at the AASLP Technical Office”.
