The volume will be presented to the Captains Regent today at the Palazzo Pubblico.
Four years after the release of the Italian edition, the book "History of San Marino" returns with a new English version. Initially produced by the Sammarinese Center for Historical Studies of the University of the Republic of San Marino for the teaching needs of secondary schools, the volume will expand its scope from a domestic reference to a tool for culture, dissemination, and education beyond its borders. It will serve as a text to be disseminated among communities of San Marino citizens living abroad, as well as a resource at international events in which San Marino representatives will participate in official capacities for diplomatic and other purposes.
Published by Bookstones Edizioni, “History of San Marino” was presented today to the Captains Regent, Matteo Rossi and Lorenzo Bugli, during an audience at Palazzo Pubblico that involved, among others, the Secretary of State for Education and Culture, Teodoro Lonfernini, the Secretary of State for Internal Affairs, Andrea Belluzzi, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Luca Beccari, the Director General of the University of San Marino, Laura Gobbi, and academics Stefano Pivato and Luca Gorgolini, editors of a volume of over 250 pages that recounts the main events and figures from the Middle Ages onwards.
Produced with contributions from fifteen different authors, the book analyzes and delves into statutes, institutions, international relations, tourism, emigration, art, archaeology, urban transformations, and other key areas in the Republic's history. "Over time," the editors write, "the stubborn and proud defense of its autonomy has constituted a common thread that has run through and distinguished the history of the Sammarinese community right up to the present day."
