University of San Marino and the government of the Ivory Coast discuss an agreement on 'green' construction

The institutions of the Ivory Coast and the University of the Republic of San Marino are evaluating the possibility of collaborating to bring some recycling methods to the African country which involve the conversion of waste into building materials. Precisely in this context, yesterday, a delegation from the Ivorian Ministry of Public Health visited the premises of the University of San Marino to meet Luca Lanzoni, professor of the degree course in Civil Engineering.

During the meeting, mainly focused on the margins of collaboration, the university laboratories were also visited where tests are carried out which would confirm the possibility of "transforming" some waste into raw materials for the building industry, replacing sand and gravel. A possible result through a technique that interests the Ministry of Public Health of the Ivory Coast in the light of the use of eco-compatible materials with low environmental impact.

"We hope that the meeting - explains Lanzoni - will be the prelude to an important and long-lasting collaboration between our University and the Ivory Coast, a rapidly developing state and particularly sensitive to policies aimed at environmental sustainability". The delegation of the Ministry of Public Health of Côte d'Ivoire was composed of Yesso Tche M.-M., director of the Health Infrastructures and Waste Enhancement section, and N'Zi Kouakou J.-C., head of International Cooperation and Project Monitoring. The meeting was also attended by Antonino and Giovanni Schillaci, owners of Remediation Srl, a company operating in the environmental sector for the remediation of contaminated sites and waste treatment.
