40 students were welcomed on Monday by the degree courses in Civil Engineering and Construction and Land Management
As part of the activities developed by the University of the Republic of San Marino to consolidate relations with the local secondary schools, on Monday 27 April the University hosted 40 students of the "Tonino Guerra" State Institute of Novafeltria at its Dogana campus. They were shown the main features of the degree courses in Civil Engineering and Construction and Land Management, thanks to the collaboration with the Provincial College of Surveyors and Graduate Surveyors of Rimini.
Along with information on academic programs, exam procedures, internship opportunities, and opportunities for experience abroad, two recently defended theses were presented. In the first, a bachelor's degree, Filippo Venerucci proposed a series of solutions, such as installing glass ramps and reorganizing classroom furniture to overcome architectural barriers in the spaces where the University of San Marino conducts its activities. The second, a master's degree, was based on the experience gained by Luca Donati during an internship at a local technical office. The seismic safety of an industrial building in Faetano, built in the 70s, was assessed, and several structural improvements and upgrades were proposed. These improvements were designed and verified, including the development of a digital model that simulated the building's behavior in the event of an earthquake.
As part of its activities for secondary schools, the Civil Engineering department has confirmed its fifth consecutive edition of the "Design Your Future Territory" ideas competition, which annually rewards the best ideas in eco-sustainability, the circular economy, and digitalization.
"The competition," explains professor Belen Giacomone, "aims to involve young people in building a more sustainable future and represents an opportunity to enhance the role of students in developing innovative solutions, in line with the current challenges of our sector."
Details on how to participate in the initiative, which is open to all institutions and students on the peninsula, are available on the website.
