Biographical profile

He is Professor Emeritus of Contemporary History at the Carlo Bo University of Urbino. At the same University, he held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​and Literatures, from 2000 to 2008, and that of Rector from 2009 to 2014. From 1989 to 1992 he taught, as an associate professor, at the University of Trieste and, during the academic year 1992-93, he was a visiting professor at the Sorbonne University (Paris V) and held lectures and seminars at the Universities of Uppsala, Lille, Strasbourg, Metz and Lisbon.

Between the late 1999s and the early 2009s he collaborated on research projects at the European University Institute (Florence) and the University of Lyon. He was a member of the scientific committees of the following journals: «Italia contemporanea», «Memoria e ricerca», «Movimento operaio e socialista» and is a member of the management committees of «Storia e problemi contemporanei», «Prima persona» and coordinator of the scientific committee of «Storia dello sport. Rivista di studi contemporanei». From 2006 to 2022 he held the position of councilor for culture of the Municipality of Rimini. In XNUMX he was the Rector's delegate for the celebrations of the fifth centenary of the University of Feltre. Since XNUMX he has been a member of the scientific committee of «Football(s). He is currently the director of the San Marino Center for Historical Studies of the University of San Marino and is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Diary Archive of Pieve Santo Stefano, of the Scientific Committee of the Interuniversity Center for the History of Italian Universities (CISUI) and of the Board of Directors of the Parri National Institute. He collaborates with Rai Storia. His scholarly interests have focused, over the years, on the collective behavior of Italians and on the political imagination in the twentieth century.
