Subject
The reality of sports practice in San Marino appears to be very rich and varied on a theoretical level. In support of this statement, we can recall the number of sports federations, the existence in the territory of adequate structures in several cases recently built, the presence of qualified personnel also in relation to the placement of physical education in schools of all levels with the choice of using only personnel with specific qualifications. Furthermore, the successes achieved in the recent Olympics have certainly contributed to strengthening the reputation of San Marino sport. In light of this, however, there is a lack of empirical analyses on the overall frequency of youth participation in sports practice that highlight its strengths and weaknesses, with particular reference to the characteristics of participation based on gender and age and with attention to the reality that has arisen after the pandemic. The Italian-language scientific literature on the subject appears to be very lacking. See, among others: ISTAT, I numeri della pratica sportiva in Italia, 2017; L. Castelli in P. Crepaz (ed.), All you need is sport, Trento, Erickson 2019.
