Experimenting with the teaching of ethics, culture and society

The institution of the teaching of “Ethics, culture and society” occurred with Law 6 June 2019 n. 96 in which it is specified that from the 2019-2020 school year the teaching of “Ethics, culture and society” is activated in the Elementary School and in all higher school levels as an alternative to the teaching of “Catholic religion”. Following the Resolution of the State Congress n. 23 of 13 June 2019, the Delegated Decree 19 September 2019 n. 144 “Curricular indications for the teaching of Ethics, culture and society” was promulgated in which the curricular indications (contained in the document) are adopted on an experimental basis from the 2019-2020 school year to the 2021-2022 school year. The Research, designed in agreement with the Secretariat of State for Education, Culture, University and Scientific Research, Youth Policies, intends to analyze the results obtained from the first experimentation of the teaching to produce the elements of knowledge necessary to confirm or modify the regulations in this matter.

Learning outcomes

• To detect the implementation status (methods used and first results obtained) of the experimentation of the “Teaching of Ethics, Culture and Society”
• Identify possible corrective measures to the relevant legislation;

Status of works

The research was completed in May 20-23. Publication with Franco Angeli in March 2024. The main results obtained will be presented in a public conference on April 23, 2024.
