Subject
The Replanet Game has an educational-cultural value and is aimed at training for the development of active citizenship skills.
Cooperative play is a tool for active communication and direct and “safe” experimentation of a condition of existence in a fictitious reality.
It can provide information and evaluations as players use the knowledge acquired and develop problem solving and conflict resolution skills through collaboration that can be strategic or tactical.
A cooperative game on the complex issue of climate change can foster the development of active citizenship skills as it addresses the issues of the environment as a “common good”, the perception of risk, the balancing of conflicts of interest, and the existence of perceptual deterrents.
Learning outcomes
The research project “RePlanet 2: testing, validation and evolution of a cooperative board game on climate change” aims to give continuity to the work of the student Lucrezia Faraci through a follow-up of the master's thesis “RePlanet”; in particular, it aims to:
- establish an appropriate field testing and validation methodology for a project of this nature;
- carry out both expert playtests on the interaction mechanics and use tests in the context of the target audience for which the product is intended, through collaboration with a school;
- collect experimental data on the effectiveness of the project, evaluate its effectiveness, and design any critical corrections to it accordingly
- Disseminate the results through a dedicated scientific publication in specialized industry journals.
Expected results
Experimentation of the project within higher institutes. Dissemination of the results through specific scientific publications.
