Enrollments

Enrollments for the 2025/2026 a.y for open-access courses are open from July 14, 2025.
Enrollments for the 2025/2026 a.y. for courses with limited enrollment provide  multiple selection rounds, followed by specific time windows during which students can complete their enrolment.

The procedure for enrollment is always online and must be preceded by registration to the Esse3 university information system through the online desk page.

NB. SELF-CERTIFICATIONS OF ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS HAVE NO LEGAL VALUE IN THE REPUBLIC OF SAN MARINO (art. 12, Law n.159 /2011). IN ORDER TO COMPLETE ENROLLMENT IN ANY DEGREE PROGRAM, AN OFFICIAL CERTIFICATION MUST BE PROVIDED.

FIRST CYCLE COURSES

To access first cycle courses, students must have a secondary school leaving certificate or a comparable foreign qualification. in case there is an automatic recognition agreement of the title between the Republic of San Marino and the country that issued the title.

Where there is no automatic recognition agreement between States, students with a foreign qualification must be in possession of a legalised secondary school leaving qualification obtained with at least 12 years of schoolingThe University of San Marino may require that the final qualification be accompanied by:

  • certificate issued by the CINERTA ENIC SAN MARINO centre or by another ENIC-NARIC centre, by certificates from foreign official bodies or by any Declaration of Value;
  • any certificate attesting to having passed the academic aptitude test if required for admission to the university in the country of origin;
  • official translations into Italian or English of the documents indicated in points a) and b);
  • Any other documentation requested by the university, including verification of the authenticity of the foreign qualification.

If the secondary school qualification was obtained at the end of a period less than 12 years of schooling, the student must also present one of the following documents which will be validated by the University's teaching commission:

  • a certificate attesting to attendance of a specific post-secondary supplementary course (e.g. Foundation course);
  • a post-secondary qualification obtained from a non-university higher education institution recognised as valid for university access according to European regulations (level 5 according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF);
  • a certificate of attendance and passing exams equivalent to one academic year or more academic years at a higher education institution recognized in the country of origin attesting to the completion of at least 12 years of schooling.

If applying for enrollment with recognition of academic courses partially completed abroad, you must attach certifications of individual exams passed, along with official documents relating to the programs involved.

SECOND CYCLE COURSES

To access second-cycle degree courses, students must possess:

  • official qualification corresponding to the first cycle according to the Bologna Process qualifications framework and level 6 according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) obtained from a higher education institution which allows for continuation of studies at academic institutions on site at the next level (second cycle of the Bologna Process/EQF level 7), and which does not present any “substantial difference” according to the principles of the Lisbon Convention.
    The University of San Marino may require that the final qualification be accompanied by a certificate issued by the CINERTA ENIC SAN MARINO centre or by another ENIC-NARIC centre, by a certificate from official foreign bodies or by a possible Declaration of Value;
  • certificate issued by the competent University attesting to the exams passed (transcript), as well as for each discipline, the programs for obtaining the aforementioned qualifications; the study program may be certified by the Diploma Supplement, where adopted;
  • official translations into Italian or English of the documents indicated in points a) and b);
  • Any other documentation requested by the university, including verification of the authenticity of the foreign qualification.

THIRD CYCLE COURSES

To access the third cycle courses, students must possess:

  • official qualification corresponding to the second cycle according to the Bologna Process qualifications framework and level 7 according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) obtained from a higher education institution that allows for continuation of studies at academic institutions in the next level (third cycle of the Bologna Process/EQF level 8) and which does not present any "substantial difference" according to the principles of the Lisbon Convention. The University of San Marino may require that the final qualification be accompanied by a certificate issued by the CINERTA ENIC SAN MARINO center or another ENIC-NARIC center or by a possible Declaration of Value;
  • certificate issued by the competent University attesting to the exams passed (transcript), as well as for each discipline, the programs for obtaining the aforementioned qualifications; the study program may be certified by the Diploma Supplement, where adopted;
  • any official translations into Italian of the documents indicated in points a) and b);
  • Any other documentation requested by the university, including verification of the authenticity of the foreign qualification.
