FIRST CYCLE COURSES

To access first-cycle courses, students must have a upper secondary school leaving certificate (high school diploma) or a comparable foreign qualification, provided that an agreement on the automatic recognition of the qualification exists between the Republic of San Marino and the country that issued the qualification.

In the absence of an automatic recognition agreement between States, students with a foreign qualification must possess a legalised final secondary school leaving certificate obtained after at least 12 years of schooling. The University of San Marino may require the final qualification to be accompanied by:

  • certificate issued by the CINERTA ENIC SAN MARINO centre or by another ENIC-NARIC centre, by certificates from foreign official authorities or by any Declaration of Value;
  • any certificate attesting the successful completion of the academic eligibility test, if this test is required for admission to the university in the country of origin;
  • official translations into Italian or English of the documents indicated in points a) and b);
  • Any other documentation requested by the university, including verification of the authenticity of the foreign qualification.

If the secondary school qualification was obtained after a period of less than 12 years of schooling, the student must also submit one of the following documents, which will be subject to validation by the University's academic commission:

  • a certificate confirming attendance of a specific post-secondary supplementary course (e.g. Foundation course);
  • a post-secondary qualification obtained at a non-university higher education institution recognised as valid for university access according to European regulations (level 5 according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF);
  • a certificate of attendance and exams completion equivalent to one or more academic years at a higher education institution recognized in the country of origin, attesting the achievement of at least 12 years of schooling.

In case of an application for admission with recognition of partially completed academic studies abroad, it is necessary to attach certifications of the individual exams passed, along with official documents outlining the respective course content.
