Il Center for Research and Teaching Theater and Citizenship was born in 2018 from the need to consolidate the experience that, since 2007, the Department of Education had developed through training and cultural activities on the theme of citizenship education through theater, within the scope of the “THEATRE AND CITIZENSHIP” project: the Democratic Citizenship Theater Festival, the Summer School and Junior Summer School “Theater and Citizenship Education”, the Advanced Training Course “Theater as a tool for educational professionalism” and the subsequent “Theater for the community and social inclusion” and finally the theater festival “DIVERSIAMOCI” aimed at Sammarinese schools.
The Centre, pursuing multiple objectives, has developed in its new configuration activities and paths articulated on four main levels:
- Study and research activities applied to teaching aimed at spreading theatrical culture and using the languages of theatre as tools for education, both in the training and cultural fields, also in collaboration with other universities, school and social-health structures
- Activities for the promotion and diffusion of theatrical culture as a ferment of civil conscience and aware citizenship, through the organization of laboratory projects, specific events and conference and seminar activities
- Training activities, aimed at the school, training and social-health sectors, through the creation of courses and teaching activities aimed at acquiring specific educational skills
- Documentation activity of the evolution of theatrical discourse both at the level of the Sammarinese community and at an international level with particular reference to the educational value of theatrical languages.
