Advanced Training Course in Pain Medicine:
University of the Republic of San Marino and University of Verona

Acute and chronic pain, whether nociceptive, neuropathic, or nociplastic in origin, represents one of the most prevalent and disabling health conditions worldwide. Despite rapid advances in neuroscience, pharmacology, interventional techniques, and multidisciplinary models of care, significant gaps remain between research findings and clinical practice. These gaps are reflected in inadequate pain assessment, suboptimal treatment strategies, and the underutilization of evidence-based interventions. As a result, many patients suffering from acute and chronic pain continue to be diagnosed and treated inappropriately, leading to reduced quality of life, impaired function, increased personal and occupational burden, higher healthcare costs, and disparities in care across different regions. These findings highlight the urgent need for enhanced education and training in the field of Pain Medicine.

The course consists of online theoretical lessons delivered in English, with the exception of the final practical module, which will be held in person at the Biomedical Center for Advanced Education, Via Salita alla Rocca 44, Città di San Marino (RSM)

Participants who enroll in the complete Advanced Training Course in Pain Medicine will be awarded 40 ECM (Continuing Medical Education) credits.
